| CB produces challan against Govt teacher in 'suicide abetment case' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 21: Crime Branch (CB) Jammu today produced challan against a government teacher for abetting/ instigating his wife to commit suicide in a case FIR No. 33/2012 u/s 306, 498-A/ RPC of Police Station Thanamandi, Rajouri in the court of Duty Magistrate, Budhal.
Crime Branch, Jammu (CBJ) produced challan against the accused person Ali Mohd Thakkar S/o Ab Ghani Thakkar R/o Lah, Thanamandi, Rajouri after the case was transferred to Crime Branch Jammu in the public interest, vide PHQ order No.1667 of 2012 dated 10.05.2012
According to spokesperson a case u/s 309 was registered at Police Station Thanamandi about one Mst Mehnaz Fatima W/o Master Ali Mohd. Caste Thakkar R/o Village Lah Tehsil Thanamandi who set herself on fire attempted to commit suicide. During the course of investigation, it came forth that Mehnaz Fatima attempted to commit suicide because she was being constantly harassed by her husband, father-in-law and other family members who were demanding dowry etc. from her. Further, it was alleged that her husband Ali Mohd was pressurizing her to leave Govt job. On these facts, section 309/RPC was dropped and section 306/RPC was added.
"Initially the investigation of case was conducted by local police, subsequently due to the involvement of larger public interest, vide PHQ order No.1667 of 2012 dated 10.05.2012 the case was transferred to Crime Branch, Jammu for further investigation, spokesperson said.
Crime branch Spokesperson added that during investigation the accused Ali Mohd S/o Abdul Ghani R/o Lah Thanamandi was found guilty of offences punishable u/s 306, 498-A RPC and accordingly challan against him was produced before the Court while the next date of hearing in the case has been fixed on 20.07.2012. |
