Simriti leads hundreds of BJP activists in court arrest
UPA, coalition lambasted for rising prices, corruption, power, water crisis

JAMMU, June 22 : The BJP Mahila Morcha national president and MP Simriti Irani today led the hundreds of Partymen including sizeable number of women in Party's Jail Baro Andolan here today. The country wide Jail Baro Andolan call was given by Party at national level against the misrule of UPA Government at Centre which is responsible for rising corruption and price hike.
In J&K the state unit of the Party also protested against the power and water crisis besides the dismal performance of Omar Abdullah led coalition Government. Hundreds of BJP activists led by Irani, BJP Seh Prabhari for J&K, R P Singh and state president of the Party Shamsher Singh Manhas assembled at Dogra Chowk earlier. The slogan shouting BJP activists later squatted at road and court arrested.
They were taken in six police vehicles to Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas and later released in the afternoon. Besides Mrs Irani, RP Singh, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Ashok Khajuria, Dr Jitendra Singh and other prominent BJP leaders court arrested. Hundreds of BJP activists court arrested at different district headquarters including Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Rajouri, Ramban and Kishtwar in connection with Party's nationwide agitational programme today.At Samba BJP senior vice president Chander Parkash Ganga led hundreds of Party men in Jail Baro Andolan where the senior party leaders led the protests in other districts.Addressing the demonstrators earlier Mrs Simriti Irani led the wrong and anti people policies of UPA at centre responsible for miseries of people in the country. She said it is height that people in Jammu are facing 16 hour power cut in this hot summer.Accusing the UPA and J&K coalition of their total dismal performance she said Dr Manmohan Singh failed to keep his promise of removing unemployment and containing prices within 100 days of the Government formation after coming to power during the 2009 elections but these promises were not kept. The people are worst hit by the rising prices and corruption. She said that the 2 G Scam and Adarsh scam have rocked this Government and one lakh sixty seven thousand crore 2 G Scam reveals that this Government from top to bottom was involved in scandals. Had this money which has been taken as bribe by UPA invested for industrialization in J&K half of the employment in this border state would have been contained.
Terming Dr Manmohan Singh a proxy Prime Minister she said he is an indecisive Prime minister and had it been not so he could have acted against the corrupt ministers in his Government and taken decision to control rising prices.She made a dig at the Government for fielding Pranab Mukherjee against PA Sangma, an Adivasi who was fielded by NDA for the highest post of President. This shows the UPA has no commitment towards weaker sections of the society.In his address RP Singh said the prices were under total check during Vajpayee led NDA rule and soon this Government came to power they made a quantum jump hitting the common man worst.
He asked the people to make a firm resolve to over throw this Government in next elections and bring NDA to power at Delhi. Manhas and Ashok Khajuria made a dig at State Government for its total discrimination towards Jammu region. They said the Darbar moved to Kashmir Valley on April 27 the power crisis gripped the Jammu. They said that it has been precedence since 1947 that Jammuites have come to streets always for solution of their smallest demands also.
Meanwhile, in other parts of Jammu region including Kathua, Rajouri and Kishtwar, a large number of BJP activists actively participated in 'Jail Bharo' Andolan of the party and registered their vociferous protest. At Kathua, nearly 150 BJP activists led by their state secretary, Rajiv Jasrotia courted arrested in connection with the country-wide 'Jail Bharo' agitation against the policies of Congress led UPA government.
In Rajouri, as part of Jail Bharo agitation BJP held a protest demonstration against the state and centre government for their failure in curbing unemployment, corruption and rising prices of essential commodities.More than 100 BJP workers were later arrested by the police and were not allowed to move towards Deputy Commissioner's Office.
The agitating BJP workers were led by State Secretary Vibodh Gupta and District President Yogesh Sharma.At Kishtwar, hundreds of BJP activists burnt the effigy of state Government in front of DC Office Kishtwar.Protesting against the UPA government for its failure to curb inflating prices of commodities, the BJP workers blocked national highway and after staging a dharna for 2-3 hours they courted arrest.After arresting the BJP activists, police shifted them to District Police Line Kishtwar.The protest was led by State Secretary BJP Sunil Sharma and District President Capt Hukam Chand.
