Team of Cong Councillors visits Shakar Chiktan in Kargil | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 22: To access the situation arising out of floods in streams and canals at various places in Ladakh, a team of councillors of Pradesh congress committee (PCC) along with its Working President Nasir Hussain Munshi visited the Shakar Chiktan area in Kargil.After reviewing the situation, the visiting team requested the Chief Minister, Minister for Irrigation & Flood Control, the authorities of LAHDC and district administration Kargil to take immediate preventive steps.The team demanded deputed a well versed team of engineers to site for perspective planning and not only provision of early relief and restoration of damaged infrastructure but evolving effective flood protection measures in future as well.The team appreciated the valiant and courageous efforts of the villagers and the volunteers of Basseej - e- Imam who tried their best to control the erosion of land and restoration of temporary bridges washed due to the heavy flow of water.Besides so many head works of irrigation Khuls leading to agricultural fields have completely been washed off.If timely measures are not taken for restoration of these head works there will be huge devastation of the standing crops. The visiting team included Mohammad Ismail Councillor Barsoo, Mohammad Kazim Councillor Choskore, Mohmmad Murtaza Councillor Baroo and Aga Syed Mukhtar former Councillor and Sarpanch Stakchey Khangral. |
