JAMMU, June 22 : Gandhi Global Family (GGF) organized an impressive prog-ramme in the auditorium of Ranjit College of Education Jammu today where Samta awards 2012 were presented to seventeen eminent social activists of the State. These awardees are Ved Parkash Bhagat, Ghulam Mohd Khan, Baba Hans Raj, Perveiz Ahmed Malik, Mandev Singh, Com Saroop Singh, Vakil Chand, Young Star Cricket Club Doda, Banarsi Lal, S. Didar Singh, Mohd Waqar Bhatti, Comres David, S.Ranjit Singh, Gurcharan Singh Reen, Anita Sharma, Dr. Naseem Choudhary and Dr Narinder Vaid.
Speaking on the occasion State President GGF Padma Shri S.P.Varma informed that Samta awards are instituted in the memory of Late Babu Jagjivan Ram the former Deputy Prime Minister of India , a front runner freedom fighter and a prominent social reformer. Varma threw light on the contribution of Babu Jagjivan Ram in ushering the labour movement, social reform movement and spreading awareness amongst the various communities to bring them in mainstream. He said that Babuji stressed on eradication of caste system and emancipation of women from social sufferings. He said that Gandhi Global Family New Delhi, a federation of Gandhian Institutions Worldwide, provides an ideal platform to learn, adopt, practice and synchronize the ideologies of National heroes in strengthening of Ghulam Nabi Azad Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare. Eminent Gandhian Dr. S.N, Sobha Rao, National advisor GGF New Delhi was the chief guest on the occasion. He stressed that the younger generation must have high and clear vision for their future. Dr Rao praised Jammu as the perfect example of city of peace and harmony where people from diverse cultures and religions live together. Dr. S.N Sobha Rao appreciated the selfless efforts of Padma Shri S.P.Varma from the last 3 decades in lightening up the dark corners of the society and liberating the people from the various social evils. Meanwhile, Babu Janak Raj, Ex-M.P and Advisor to Gandhi Global Family expressed his happiness over the working of Gandhi Global Family in bridging the social gap at the various levels. The other esteem personalities who joined the dice were Mr Jahangir Mir (MLC), S.Ranjit Singh Chief Patron Ranjit Educational Trust, S.Kirtan Singh, S.Mohan Singh Wazir & G.R.Bhagat.
