| Lt. Gen PC Bhardwaj to head Fire and Fury Corps | | | Jammu | Feb 1
After a distinguished and professionally rewarding tenure, Lt Gen JK Mohanty, UYSM, SM, VSM is bidding adieu as the skipper of Fire & Fury Corps to assume his responsibilities as Commandant Army War College, the highest seat of military intellectuals in the Indian Army. He is now succeded by an equally distinguished soldier, Lt Gen PC Bhardwaj. Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vir Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Vishist Seva Medal, a second generation Army Officer and an alumnus of National Defence Academy. He was commissioned on 14 June 1970 and joined the elite 1 Para (Special Forces) and subsequently commanded the battalion. He has seen action in 1971 for which he was awarded the Vir Chakra. He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra in 1992 for a unique rescue operation in Himachal Pradesh.
