JU denies CTA statement | | | early times report jammu, June 22 : The University of Jammu, Jammu vehemently denied the statement of Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta, President, College Teachers Association (CTA), published in section of media that evaluators from newly established campuses, retired teachers and college teachers posted outside the Jammu city are forced to evaluate 40 answer books per day where as the teachers from Jammu city are evaluating 30 answer scripts per day. In a statement issued to the press here today, the Jammu University clarified that the University Council at its meeting held on February 9, 2010 resolved that the retired teachers, teachers from the newly established campuses of the Jammu University and the teachers from other than city colleges who have to devote their full day from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. in summer and 9.00 a.m. to 6 p.m. in winter be allowed to evaluate 40 answer scripts in the day instead of 25 answer scripts as is the past practice. The teachers from the local Colleges and from the teaching departments of the University of Jammu be allowed to evaluate 30 answer scripts in a day instead of 25 answer scripts as is the past practice. It is very clear that as per Council decision the evaluators are allowed to evaluate 40 answer scripts instead of 25 answer scripts in a day. It is not a compulsion on the part of evaluator to evaluate 40 answer scripts and the University does not compel them for the same. Moreover, in neighbouring Universities, a teacher evaluates more than 40 answer scripts in a day; particular mention may be made of GND University, Amritsar where evaluation centre is open from 9 am to 5 pm and a teacher evaluates 50 answer scripts in a day at the rate of Rs 10 per answer script. It may not be out of place to mention here that the rate of evaluation per answer script may be highest in the University of Jammu which is Rs 15 and Rs 20 per answer scripts for Under-graduate and Post-graduate Courses respectively and the evaluation centre runs full day from 8 am to 8 pm in summer and 9 am to 6 pm in winter and the retired teachers, teachers from the newly established campuses of the Jammu University and the teachers from other than city colleges have sufficient time at their disposal to evaluate the answer scripts.
