Pak ceasefire violations in Poonch | LoC visitors anxious over prevailing border tension | | SALIL RAINA POONCH, June 22: The situation on LoC in Poonch sector is showing no sign of normalcy as during the last few days Pakistan has violated the ceasefire agreement several times. Due to the prevailing tense situation, the Cross LoC trade also remained suspended and now the cloud of uncertainty starts hovering over continuation of weekly "Karvan-e-Aman" Bus service. While the operation of the bus service from Chakan-da-Bagh was stopped on June 18, the cross-LoC trade remained suspended for the second consecutive week thereby causing huge blow to traders. The family members of visitors who have crossed over to each side are anxious that when would their kins come back or whether they would be able to return or not to their native places. A visibly upset Safia Begum, wife of Intezar Hussain Sofi said, "I am worried about the welfare of my family members who had left for PoK in weekly bus service." With tears rolling down her cheeks, Safia said, "This weekly bus service has provided a ray of hope for all families who are living on both sides of border to meet each other, but the way tension level at border is on the rise, I fear about their welfare." Similarly a PoK visitor, wishing anonymity said, "This situation on the border is really worrisome and I hope everything will be settled sooner than later as it is in the best interest of both nations to sort out the differences for better future," adding that he is really enthralled to see a secular culture in Poonch. Though Indian authorities asked for flag meeting, but the Pakistan authorities did not agreed to it. But today, while sending a hotline message to Pakistan Army, Indian authorities called for a brigade level flag meeting and Pakistan has agreed to it. Now the said meeting will be held tomorrow at 11 am at Chakan Da Bagh LoC Point to look into the issues of increasing incidents of firing and ceasefire violation on border. The Army authorities say that it was a serious issue as they directly fired on Army troops guarding the borderline in Poonch. Now the all eyes are set on tomorrow's meeting at Chakan Da Bagh.
