| Govt fails to give 'customary' directions on deadline | | NBCC-ERA mess, miseries inflicted on Jammu | | Opposition mute as only 'constituency politics' matters

Jammu, June 22: The entire Jammu city is in a state of disarray and residents of many areas distraught with messy condition of roads they have been facing for over one year. The latest area to feel agonized with bruised roads and dug up trenches is the stretch of Janipur-New Plot where driving for a couple of days has become a punishment. Thanks to the government which occasionally fulfils its obligation of feeling pinch of people's woes by asking the concerned agencies to stick to deadlines set for completion of so called development projects. Also thanks to the opposition for continuing to stay mute to miseries of people .
Jammu and its people have been facing this 'onslaught ' of development with brazen attitude and conduct of the agencies involved in laying underground sewer pipes. One only wonders at the timing and schedule of these agencies for they choose to continue with indiscriminate digging and dilapidation spree only when Durbar and Durbaaries move away to summer capital. While NBCC and ERA which are the main agencies involved in this project have been busy with so called development project have mercilessly and in complete wayward manner dug up the road surfaces using high tech JCC machines, in what they contend a phased manner, there has been no reason and rationality in the manner they are proceeding every year and at some places re digging the same stretches , God knows for what purpose.
While common masses cannot, but only bear the pain, agony of this dilapidation to the hilt, no authorities, worth the name, not to speak of the concerned ministries have guts and courtesy to ask for what and why of this mismanagement and utter lack of coordination between the departments on account of which common people are suffering . In the middle of the scorching summer the concerned agencies have once again dug up main roads of Jammu, this time all important BC road a life line that not only carries heavy traffic of National Highway but also connects various areas of Jammu .
All that concerned ministers have been seen in past is the statement for the sake of formality in asking NBCC and ERA to fix the time for the completion of works so that people did not face any inconvenience. It is over two months now this year after shifting of Durbaar to Valley that many areas of Jammu have once again plunged into pitiable and miserable conditions, no one is bothered to make even customary statements from the government. One is not surprised at the indifference of government which has NC and Congress as rulers, as both the parties as ever are unconcerned and they know when and how to cash on politically.
If at all one is surprised is at the muteness of almost entire spectrum of opposition , the leaders of which are truly in hibernation. One wonders why BJP's fiery legislator Ashok Khajuria who otherwise has tired himself on criticizing NBCC, ERA is silent this time. One is shocked to see the silence of otherwise furious Panthers Party leadership which claims to be well wishers of Jammu and Dogras at this height of misery inflicted upon the masses in the name of development. It is all about politics actually and why should they waste lung power as long as it is not their constituency .
