| Two arrested for committing rape on woman | | |

Udhampur, June 22: Two persons were arrested by the Police in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in a village of Udhampur district. Police said the duo pounced upon woman when she was returning to her home from her parental house on foot through a isolated forest area in Darsoo Udhampur.
The accused have been identified as Shabir Ahmed son of Fishan, Sher Ali son of Hasham Din Gujjar both residents of Darsoo.
"The duo was arrested after a complaint was lodged by one Seemo wife of Mushtaq Ahmed resident of Kandal Tehsil Udhampur, police said .
The victim in her complaint has alleged that duo committed rape on her when she was returning back to her parental house on foot in forest area of Darsoo in Udhampur.
Complainant added that she raised alarm when she got an opportunity and some pedestrians came to the spot and both the persons fled away from the spot, police said further adding, "the victim informed her sister about the incident on cell phone of a pedestrian.'
Following the complaint a case against FIR No. 214/12 U/S 376/34 RPC was registered at Police Station Udhampur and investigation started.
During investigation, Udhampur Police under the direct supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Benam Tosh arrested both the accused persons and put them behind the bars. Both the accused persons were remanded to Police custody for 5 days and their interrogation is going on.
