Royal XI lifts Summer Premier League trophy

JAMMU, June 24: Royal XI today clinched the Summer Premier League Cricket trophy outplaying United Cricket Club (UCC) by two wickets in the final played at Green Field ground, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, UCC bowled out for 99 runs in allotted 20 overs, which, in reply, Royal XI chased in 19.3 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Abhishek and Akash were top scorers with 14 and 12 runs in their respective accounts. From Royal XI, Sidharth took three wickets, followed by Shubam, Arjun and Vishal, who shared two each.
Later, Royal XI overhauled the opponent total making 100 runs in 19.3 overs with two wickets in hand. Rattan played match winning innings of 28 runs while Viren and Adirath contributed 19 and 11 runs respectively. Kamal bowled brilliant spell but could not guide UCC to victory. He took five wickets. Ajay, Vinay and Akshay shared apiece each.
For his match winning innings, Rattan was declared man of the match while man of the series trophy went to Prince of Challenger Club. Those, who won man of the match titles in earlier matches were also presented trophies. They were Aakash, Vinay, Achut, Akshay (all UCC), Vipul (Devils King), Manik (Nightmares), Ishant, Arjun, Ankush, Shubam (all Royal XI), Ridham (Devils King), Prince (Super Challengers), Vikrant and Ankit (both AVS Kings). In the final and prize distribution function, secretary Pradesh Congress Committee, Anil Chopra was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Vice president of Pradesh Youth Congress, Pranav Shagotra was guest of honour in the valedictory function. This tournament was organised by a group of young cricketers including Abhishek Thapa, Talat, Achut and Arnav.
