More rain expected as 1st batch leaves for Amarnath cave tomorrow

Srinagar, June 24 : More rain would occur on both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes tomorrow when the Ist batch of pilgrims will leave for Holy Amarnath cave shrine to have the darshan of the self made Ice-shivlingam in south Kashmir Himalyas. However, despite accumulation of snow and fresh snowfall and rains, the authorities have put in place all the arrangments for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage, starting from tomorrow, when Governor N N Vohra, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Boad (SASB) will be the first to offer prayers. A Met department spokesman said there could be light rain or thundershowers in Khanabal-Pahalgam-Holy Cave route tomorrow. He said for Baltal route, Khanabal-Srinagar will remain partly cloudy sky. However, there is possibility of light rain on Srinagar-Sonamarg and Holy Cave shrine route tomorrow. Spokesman said Jammu-Udhampur-Batote will remain partly cloudy while there is possibility of light rain or thundershowers on Batote-Banihl sector.
