Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 24 : Lashing out at State Government for recommending yet another package for Kashmiri Pandits, living outside Valley, MLA, Langate, Er. Rasheed has warned that such biased steps will create social imbalance and divide the society on different lines.
While speaking at Panchayat conference, chaired by A G Noorani, at Yousmarg Rasheed said that such packages are not only useless to resolve the Kashmir issue but are sure to create unrest and distrust in the majority community .He said that it is the majority community who really need economic and job oriented packages as they are the worst victims of violence since last 25 years. He said that the Kashmiri people have not only lost about one lac lives and prosperity worth billions and billions of Rupees but have also not been able to provide best education to their children due to the ongoing turmoil. MLA stressed upon Kashmiri Pandits to return to their homes with out pre conditions and packages and said that the community will have to learn to live with the majority community which has never been communal. He said that though world knows Kashmiri Muslims for their secular traditions but it doesn't mean that they should keep mum when Government is putting all its efforts to provide packages and facilities to a particular community in the name of rehabilitation. MLA, Langate, accused the state Govt. of recommending the said packages on the direction of New Delhi to oblige its masters there. Rasheed said that while people in India are enjoying their freedom and rights by having weapons like RTI Act and other related laws, people in Kashmir are deprived of the basic facilities like SMS services .He said that private TV channels in Kashmir are being victimized by the state Govt. while the same channels are not only doing their business in Jammu but are enjoying heavy perks and are being bestowed with all the support from the same authorities who have banned private TV in Kashmir.
Rasheed appealed people like A G Noorani and Aruna Roy, who were present on the occasion that their focus should be to stress upon the Indian state to resolve the long pending Kashmir dispute; otherwise people treat these conferences as a mockery and the wastage of time. Rasheed strongly advocated for providing honorarium to Panches and Sarpanches and said that otherwise they would have no option but to indulge in the unfair practices.
