| Abdul Gani of Punjab bags ‘Bambyal Kesari’ title | | | early times report
JAMMU, June 25: Wrestler Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab lifted the 57th edition of Bambyal Kesari Dangal out-playing Amit of Guru Han-uman Akhara Delhi in the main that lasted for 11 minutes at Bambyal, 34 kilometers from here. Winner Gani was awa-rded with cash prize money of Rs 15,000 while runners-up, Amit presented Rs 12,000 prize by chief guest, BSP state secretary, Rakesh Wazir and president, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
In all, 49 bouts took place in this dangal wherein wrestlers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and J&K participated. An amount of Rs 1,35,000 incurred on the conduct of this dangal out of which Rakesh Wazir contributed Rs 10,000. In the second main bout, Jakker of Sarore in Jammu beat Soffian of Panipat in Haryana while Yasheen of Alamgir trounced Tinku of Rohtak in Haryana in the third main bout. The fourth bout went in favour of Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal who defeated Teg Ali of Mallerkotla. In fifth main bout Asaf of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu downed Murad Ali of Domana and sixth bout was won by Kaka of Nam-ashara beating Kalu of Bishnah. Dangal was organised by Dangal Committee Bambyal under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. National Conference leader, Ch. Noor Ali, Retired SP, Prithvi Raj Sharma and president of the dangal committee, Bambyal Ram Singh were guests of honour. Among others present were Bharat Singh, Balbir Singh, Choudhary Mumtaz, Noor Mohd., Thoru Ram, Ram Parkash Sharma, Bittu Raina, Bishan Dass and Grdhari Lal. Member and technical committee included Ram Singh, Ch. Manzoor Hussian (chairman), Panch Ghulam Nabi, Ch. Bashir Ahmed, Bishan Dass (organizer), Om Parkash Sharma, Mohd. Fareed and Murli Dhar.
