Traders stage protest against alleged 'favoritism' in road widening project | | | Early Times Report Kathua, June 25: Shopkeepers of Hatli Morh staged a protest against district administration alleging it following favouritism in road widening process from Kalibari to Hatli Morh. The protest was led by PDP district president S Surinder Singh. Speaking on the occasion, S Surnder Singh said that as per decision of district administration the road would be widened 31 feet to right and left from centre but In order to benefit some blue eyed people this rule is not being implemented. He said at many places the road has been widened in wrong proportions just to avoid dismantling structures of some staunches of administration. He said that on Feb 29, 2012 in a meeting chaired by DDC Zahida Khan it was decided that shops and other structures at Hatli Morh would not be dismantled and only existing road would be improved and widened. " But district administration is not honouring the decision taken in the meeting attended by Director ERA, Xen PHE, ACR, Project Manager ERA, Asstt Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager Kathua, Construction Manager, Asstt Executive Engineers PWD, PHE and PDD and Tehsildar," he said. He further told that road widening should be done as per the decision taken and should be 31 feet wide from both sides. He warned if their demands are not taken into consideration, they would be forced to launch an agitation. Among others Santokh Singh Bali, Surinder Singh, Sanjeev Gupta, Harpreet singh, Vidyasagar, Satveer Singh, Sandeep Singh and Amarjeet Singh were present in the protest. |
