| Erratic power supply resented, students worst sufferers | | | DODA FEB- 01 The entire hilly Doda district, especially the Doda town, is facing acute shortage of electricity causing great inconvenience to the consumers, particularly the student community. Despite paying huge electric tariff, the people are not being provided electricity. It remains off for most periods of day and even in some remote and far- flung areas, the situation is worse. The reports suggest that most parts of the District are without electricity for the last fortnight or so. The non-availability of electricity has posed great problems for the student community, who are preparing themselves for appearing in different examinations that are round the corner. The people of the district curse the Power Minister for his failure in personally assessing the situation on the ground and allege that the Minister concerned is not bothered to take care of the needs of the rural areas and instead is concentrating on big towns and cities. The residents also allege that ever since Jora took over the portfolio of Power Development Department, the power situation in the State, especially in Doda district, has worsened with no sings of any possible improvement in future. The people have urged the Chief Minister to personally look into the matter and get the problems of the people solved at the earliest.
