Dog menace on the rise in GMC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 25: Dog menace is on the rise not only in the city of temples but in Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu. On any given day a group of dogs can be seen moving in and around the emergency block, recovery ward and passage leading to the ultrasound clinic in the GMC. The hospital authorities who do not regulate movement of visitors in the hospital premises seems to have taken lenient view of the presence of large number of dogs as well. The dogs not only roam around through out the day but also spread litter and secrete in and around the recovery ward. The visitors occupying chairs outside the recovery ward are normally greeted by these dogs spending time leisurely under the chairs. Regular visitors to the GMC complex complain that on number of occasions the message has been conveyed to the hospital authorities to take care of the dog menace and find a permanent solution to the problem but till date no sincere effort has been made by the hospital authorities to address the issue. The situation is grim during evenings ans it becomes difficult for the patients attendants to shoo away the dogs. The guards manning the gates outside the main emergency block say they keep an eye on the movement of visitors inside the hospital premises but during peak rush it becomes difficult to control the rush. On certain occasions if a street dog manages to gain access inside the premises it is very difficult to stop them. The sweepers working in the hospital say even they have brought the issue of dog menace to the notice of their senior supervisors but till date no sincere effort has been made to resolve the issue. |
