Focus attention on rural ,hilly areas: Azad | | | Early Times Report DODA, June 25 : Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad who is on a four day visit to erstwhile District Doda today visited Bhalessa area and addressed a series of Public meetings at Thathri, Kahra, Bhatyas and Gandoh. Addressing the gathering Azad said that focused attention needs to be placed on the development of rural and hilly areas of the state. He said the benefits of different state and centrally sponsored schemes must percolate down to the poor people. Azad said that a network of roads was initiated in the erstwhile Doda District to provide better road connectivity to the people living in the most backward and far flung areas of the region .He said that various developmental projects are also in the pipeline to give a fillip to the socio-economic order of the people . Expressing concern over delays in certain projects the Minster directed the concerned departments to ensure timely completion of the ongoing works and remove the bottlenecks impeding the completion of these projects. He said five motorable bridges were sanctioned on the Kishtwar -Ramban belt of river Chinab to provide better road connectivity to the people. He directed the concerned to complete the works of Ganpat Bridge, Shiva Dal Bridge, Thatri Bridge, Trungal Bridge and Marsoo Bridge in stipulated timeframe.To explore the Hydel Power potential of the region and to provide employment to the unemployed youth in the area five hydel power projects were sanctioned in the erstwhile District Doda among them Rattle HE Power project is one which is in the initial stages of construction and the other projects are in the pipe line. Regarding the strengthening of health care delivery system, Azad announced that a 50 bedded hospital at Thathri with advanced Operation Theatre, adequate accommodation for patients and Doctors residence for which funds will be provided by the Central Health Ministry, He directed Director Health Jammu to initiate and prepare DPR in this regard. Azad said that Union Ministry of Health is soon going to formulate a new scheme for three states i.e Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pardesh and Uttranchal for which the criteria of sanctioning of PHC will be a population of 12000 and for Sub-Centre it will be a population of 2500. He also apprised the gathering that health department is providing free food, free medical treatment, free medicines and financial assistance to pregnant women and the new born. He asked the people to ensure vaccination of pregnant ladies, children and new born for better and healthy future of the state. He also congratulated people of the area for their enthusiastic, peaceful and successful conduct of Panchayati Elections. He said Panchayati Raj Institutions help in the better and fruitful implementation of benefit and welfare schemes for the target population . He said empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions is vital for which elections for Block Samiti and District level elections for Zila Samiti needs to be held in the state so that full powers gets decentralised to the ground level democratic institutions as per the Constitution. |
