Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25: Notwithstanding the cabinet decision with one stroke ordering transfer of young lady IAS officer Sheetal Nanda few days back in the cabinet meeting, but the moot question remains why she was unceremoniously given an exit from office of Deputy Commissioner of Reasi district and asked to report at General Administration Department (GAD) till further orders?
The government made the said order during the last cabinet meeting held at remote belt of Tangdhar near LoC on June 20th . Though the state government ordered another couple of transfers but the transfer of Sheetal Nanda had raised number of questions pertaining to the working of Nanda, who had to report to GAD in less than a time period of six months, ever since she joined as DC, Reasi.
While on June 20th, the government handout issued to press did not mention any reasons about the unceremonious exit of Sheetal Nanda but highly placed sources in the government indicated that "the working of Sheetal Nanda was unsatisfactory. Number of complaints reaching at the higher circles of the government by the common people of Reasi district was against Sheetal Nanda."
"Besides such complaints," sources further revealed, "an irresponsible act of Sheetal Nanda on June 14th was also a major issue, which the state cabinet took very seriously. On June 14th, instead of traveling in her own official vehicle along with escort of police personnel, the senior official opted to drive a Scorpio bearing registration number JK20-1916 from her official residence, Reasi towards the road leading to Rajouri."
"Though, exactly at which particular area Sheetal Nanda wanted to drive could not be known, but the vehicle, which she was driving in, turned turtle and went at least 40-50 feet down a nullah in Malhad village," sources informed further adding that "soon after seeing a vehicle went down the nullah the local immediately swung into a rescue operation and Sheetal Nanda had miraculous escape with minor injuries. However, the vehicle got totally damaged."
In the entire sequence of event, a surprising thing came to light that the vehicle belonged to a private person and was further hired by the Company that was engaged by the government for the laying of railway tracks in Reasi district.
Sources further shared that a case pertaining to road accident has been registered at police station, still the update of investigation is best known to the concerned police.
Questions are being raised as "what led to travel in a private commercial vehicle engaged with some Railway Company and why the official vehicle was not used by the lady IAS official? Furthermore, even if she wished to travel in a private vehicle, why she did not take along her PSOs?"
"If an IAS official will act in such a manner, how one can expect good administration for the common people," pointed out sources further sharing that "a report was received by the government in this regard following which she was asked to better report at GAD till further orders".
