Jammu, June 25: Bhaderwah and its people have all the reasons to feel elated to witness four day cultural cum tourism mela inviting some attention in the picturesque township and getting inaugurated by none other than the son of the soil, Ghulam Nabi Azad , but one wonders whose show is it once again and organized by whom…..? Once again leaders from rival faction of Congress were not seen in the inaugural show nor were any NC leader seen around or making any statement. Is it that none of these politicians have no concern with Bhaderwah or they were simply not invited by the 'organizers…?'.
Notwithstanding Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's recent statements, which now sound only political rhetoric, with key words like cordiality, unity, smooth relations ….both within Congress as also between the coalition partners, his own political shows have proved it all wrong and just reverse of his assertions. In a series of functions lately and for the last 3 days the functions attended by Azad have seen leaders from rival faction as well as from ruling National Conference making themselves conspicuous by staying away .
Sources said there were no formal invitations sent to leaders of any party. However, since a word had gone in circulation in the district administration that Union Health Minister has to inaugurate the festival, the loyalists of his own party as well as the people at the helm of district administration ensured the presence of those who matter in the Azad lobby of Congress. To that extent the presence of a galaxy of Congress leaders including ministers , MPs and legislators all staunch loyalists of Azad at the inauguration ceremony is well understood. But what has made the political show attended by Azad more surprising is complete absence of NC leaders , not even party functionaries , not to speak of senior leaders or ministers there.
The whole scnee has brought into focus some hard realities again: one that it is Azad vs rival faction despite his assertions that Congress is united and Azad as against NC, despite being a ruling partner. Is NC deliberately distancing and staying away from state level functions with Azad as chief guest or gets sidelined by the organizers, no matter from within the government…? '
