Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 26: Young Panthers (Youth wing of Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party-JKNPP) came upon heavily upon the state government for its non-seriousness towards the arrangements and facilities for the pilgrims coming to the state for Baba Amarnath yatra. It was alleged that state government is least bothered for providing even basic facilities to the pilgrims.Addressing a press conference here today, Pushvinder Singh Manhas (Sr.Vice-President, Young Panthers) told media persons that the Amarnath Yatris, who are coming to our state from different parts of the country for paying obeisance at the sanctum sancturium of the Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine, are facing enormous hardships and problems. He said that beside the shortage of basic amenities like water, electricity, accommodation, etc. Yatris are forced to face hurdles created by the traffic police at various Nakas laid down by them on National Highway from Lakhanpur to Pahalgam or Baltal. Yatris are being harassed by these traffic personnel on one pretext or the other, he said.Manhas said that the state government had earlier announced to constitute a special team for the checking of the vehicles of these Yatris at Lakhanpur and it was also announced that after checking of the said vehicles, a sticker was to be issued to these vehicles so that during their yatra from Lakhanpur to Pahalgam or Baltal or else where, they don't face any type of hurdles during their yatra. But it seems that the state government is expert in only getting published the news for its hollow announcements but on the ground level they did not materialise. He served an ultimatum of one week to the government to initiate necessary steps to eradicate the hardships faced by the Yatris during their yatra otherwise he said that Young Panthers will be forced to come on the roads in support of the Yatris as this treatment to them is bringing bad name to the state.
