| Trans LoC trade remains suspended for third week | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 26 : Trans LoC trade and bus services on the Poonch-Rawlakote route remained suspended for the third consecutive week following the recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan."There will be no LoC trade this week. There was no crossing of people between Jammu and Kashmir and PoK yesterday", Trade Facilitation Officer (TFO) and Custodian, Abdul Hamid Sheikh said today.
He said that after holding talks with counterparts in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), they were informed that no trade will take place this week through the Chakan-Da-Bagh LoC point in Poonch. PoK officials told us that crossing of people will re-start from July two", Sheikh said.
LoC trade came to a halt on July 14 in view of the Indo-Pak tension resulting due to the intense and heavy LoC firing, shelling and ceasefire violation incidents since June 11 in which two jawans were killed and four others were injured in five incidents.
It was on June 13, that there was trade of Rs 91 lakh in 11 trucks between J and K and PoK via Chakan-Da-Bagh LoC Point in Poonch district. LoC trade takes place four days from Tuesday to Friday every week in Chakan-Da-Bagh-Rawalakote LoC road in Poonch district.
The Poonch-Rawlakote 'Carvan-e-Aman' bus service has also been suspended yesterday for the second consecutive week. 69 people had crossed in Carvan-e-Aman bus service via Chakan-Da-Bagh LoC crossing Point in Poonch on June 11 and since then it is suspended.The trading point and the bus services was started to facilitate easy trade and travel among divided families of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and considered to be major confidence building exercise between India and Pakistan. |
