| 2500 vehicles challaned in eight days, Rs 5 lakh recovered as fine | | Drive against traffic violators | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 26: Traffic Police has achieved a new record as in just eight days Rs 5 lakh have been recovered as fine from 2500 vehicles in the rural areas of Jammu region. In the special drive the traffic Police nakas in the different locations against those who are not fallow the traffic rules and regulations. As per record of Traffic police Jammu, a total of 2541 vehicles were challaned during the ongoing month of June and Rs 5, 53500 were recovered as compound fine. Police record, in June month 2541 traffic violators have been challaned by traffic police and these violators also filed in the Jammu court. Most of people who drink with drive cases and using of cell phones have increased last some months. Traffic police says some people also riding bikes and other vehicles without driving license and helmets. As per the data during special naka at Bari Brahmana, 306 vehicles were challaned and a fine of Rs 58,650 was recovered and 82 tint glasses vehicles have been challaned total numbers of removed black film of 518 vehicles. Whereas, in Mansar area, a total of 414 vehicles were challaned and a fine to the tune of Rs 96,950 was recovered. In district Samba, 228 vehicles were challaned and Rs 45,550 was recovered. While, in Kathua district, a fine of Rs 40,950 was recovered from 228 offenders. At Lakhanpur, a total of 307 vehicles were challaned and a fine of Rs 77,750 was recovered, although, in Sunderbani, Rs 86,250 was recovered as fine amount from 368 offenders. In Mendhar, 422 vehicles were challaned and a fine to the tune of Rs 88,050 was recovered from the offenders, while, in the Poonch district, a fine of Rs 59,550 was recovered from 268 traffic law offenders. Meanwhile, 559 private vehicles were challaned for having tinted glasses as per Supreme Court order and a fine of Rs 1, 87,250 was recovered from them. Besides, black films of more than 518 vehicles were removed. When contacted Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural, Sujit Chauhan also admitted that the traffic police first time make a record in the State. He further said that per day average Rs 30 by challaned in rural areas was being recovered but traffic police recovered Rs 5, 53500 within 8 days. He further said that during the Shri Amarnath Yatra season the traffic police reduced the nakas and challan so that the pilgrims will not facing any problems. After close the Yatra th traffic department will start special drive again. |
