Two more pilgrims die of cardiac arrest in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jun 26 : Two Amarnath pilgrims from Rajasthan and Banaglore died due to cardiac arrest, while they were proceeding towards the holy cave shrine of Amarnath. With this a total of three pilgrims have died since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage yesterday. Official sources said here today that a pilgrim Raghu Nath, resident of Rajasthan suffered a massive heart attack at Pisso top on traditional Pahalgam pilgrimage route. He was immediately taken to nearby medical camp where he was declared brought dead. Another pilgrim Geeta Sharidhar, resident of Bangalore also suffered cardiac arrest at Baltal base camp. However, he died before he could be shifted to medical camp. Yesterday, one Neeraj Chopra, resident of Suraj-Jung, Jalandher, Punjab, died due to cardiac arrest at Baltal base camp. Every pilgrim holding a valid 'Yatra Permit' is covered under Rs one lakh insurance. However, the pilgrims had to obtain a medical certificate from a doctor that he is fit to undertake the pilgrimage. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) Navin Kumar Choudhary has once again appealed to the intending pilgrims to embark on the pilgrimage only after obtaining, in their own interest, a valid Yatra Permit.The CEO reiterated that yatris not possessing valid Yatra Permits will not be able to proceed beyond the Nunwan and Baltal Base Camps. The CEO said the Board has also issued a detailed Advisory of Dos and Donts for these visiting the Holy Cave. The pilgrims need to strictly adhere to these Dos and Don’ts’ as they have to undertake an arduous trek through high mountain ranges under adverse weather conditions, he added.. |
