| Humiliation, odd ordeal to consumer courtesy Aircel | | | KUNAL SHRIVATSA
JAMMU, June 26: Ever since its entry into the telecommunication sector in Jammu Kashmir almost seven years back, Aircel, one of the leading private mobile service providers operating here never miss an opportunity to boast of its 'quality services' but the things at ground reality are completely different.
However, Aircel's claims of providing better services and total satisfaction to its customers it seems is just a bait to woo the subscribers as one Sandeepan of Sainik Colony, Jammu is being harassed for the last one month by the company's franchise for no fault of his.
Narrating his tale of woes to Early Times, Sandeepan, a lecturer in Commerce, posted at SRML Higher Secondary School, Jammu said having an Aircel Sim Card is really a terrible experience for him for the last one month
"I have an Aircel pre-paid connection, actually issued in the name of my brother-in-law Ramit Gupta of Talab Tillo but ever since it is operational I am using it……It was exactly a month ago on May 26, 2012 I got a call on my Mobile No 9858697555 from a person's Cell phone No 8803506415 claiming that he was an Customer Executive speaking from Aircel. The said person persuaded me to change from pre-paid to post-paid mode by paying an amount of Rs 600 to which I gave a nod,"
Gupta said.
"After few hours a person came and collected the subscription fee of Rs 600 (for which a receipt was also issued) as well as the requisite documents saying that the plan will get changed within a week's time, however, after the passage of about 10 days I rang up the same number from which I received the call on May 26 to enquire the status of my plan. The person, whose name, I think was Rahul said that the photocopies of documents given by me are not clear and I have to submit scanned/ colour copies of the same…. I then sent across the scanned copies of my Pan Card and Driving Licence to the Aircel franchise, which when I required is located at Shivaji Chowk, Nanak Nagar by the name and style of Aircel Crest ," Sandeepan added.
After submitting the scanned copies, Sandeepan thought that now his plan will get changed but this was not the case as the matter gets much more complicated when he again received a call requesting him to change his plan from pre-paid to post-paid.
"I was flabbergasted when I received a similar call from an Aircel No 8803506404 urging me to change my plan. I then again approached the person to whom I had given my documents and subscription fee but he took my plea very casually and laughingly said that my plan will be changed soon. On getting an unresponsive reply I just could not control myself and lost my temper as I was feeling humiliated… When I asked him the status of my application in a harsh manner the other person started to abuse me and used filthy and derogatory language," Sandeepan said.
"I admit that I should have avoided an argument but what one can do when confronted with such unprofessional people … My anger was out of sheer frustration… I have paid the required amount, Aircel or its franchise should have taken care of the service… I must say that I am going through an ordeal," a visibly upset Sandeepan said.
