| Brij Nagar residents protest for electricity, block road | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 27: Agitated over the consistent power failure from last two weeks due to apathy of concerned PDD large number of locals from village Brij Nagar lodged protest demonstration and blocked the road for hours together here today.
The protestors assembled at the main road and raised slogans against the PDD t for not taking the matter seriously despite of repeated requests and grouses from the local representatives and blocked the main road by burning tyres.
While briefing to media, the secretary J&K Pradesh Congress Darshan Raina said that there is a complete power failure in the Brij Nagar area from the last fifteen days due to transformer damage. He alleged that the PDD has not taken any step in this regard.
He further said that there is an urgent need to install two transformers in the Brij Nagar area and demanded to install one more transformer to streamline the power supply in the area.
After considering the sensitivity of the situation XEN and Tehsildar R S Pura rushed to the spot and assured them to install one extra required transformer forthwith after which they suspender the stir. Raina further warned if their demand will not be fulfilled forthwith then they will intensify their protest, responsibility of which would be of concerned PDD t and state government.
