Gupta reminds Jammuites of Dr Mukherjee's sacrifice | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 27: Almost all the problems in Jammu and Kashmir can be solved by adopting nationalistic approach as was envisaged in the Kashmir Mission of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. This was stated by former union minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta after visiting Nishat area of Srinagar where in 1953. r. Mukherjee was put under detention in a small hut and in course of this detention without trial; Dr. Mukherjee had breathed his last in mysterious circumstances on the night of June 22/23 in 1953. The small hut in Nishat area where Dr. Mukherjee was lodged has since been raised in Late 50s where many people had started visiting. Now in the area several buildings have come up. He said Dr. Mukherjee was a great soul and had the capacity to lead the country in the right direction, but his death in mysterious circumstances had left many questions unanswered which have a blot on the democratic history of India after the independence of the country. But this great sacrifice should not go in vain and expressed the confidence that ultimately the mission of Dr. Mukherjee is the answer to numerous problems facing the people in this part of the country. Prof. Gupta said legally and constitutionally J&K is an integral part of India, and why there should not be one constitution and one flag.
