Militants attack on Army transit camp, no injuries | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 28 : Militants this afternoon fired rifle grenades or rockets towards an Army transit camp in the heart of city this afternoon. This was the first such attack in more than a decade on the camp by the militants. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Official sources said two grenades or rockets were fired towards the camp at Tato Ground adjacent to General Bus stand at Batmaloo this afternoon from an unknown place. The explosives, however, exploded mid-air without causing any damage. A massive hunt has been launched to locate the area from where the rockets or grenades were fired. A defence ministry spokesman confirmed that two blasts took place in mid-air in the camp without causing any damage. He, however, said it was not immediately clear what caused the blast. "We are investigating and will issue a statement later in the day," he said. Meanwhile, panic gripped the area after the explosion. People ran for safety after the blast, eyewitnesses said. |
