WDC organizes capacity building programme at Leh

LEH, June 28 : J&K State Women's Development Corporation in collaboration with National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) organized one day capacity building programme for differently abled women beneficiaries here today . Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh Rigzin Spalbur inaugurated the camp. Whileas Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NHFDC, Harsh Bhal was the guest of honour on the occasion. District Development Commissioner, Leh Tsering Angchuk, besides senior officers of the district administration Leh also participated in the camp. In his inaugural speech, the Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC appreciated the efforts of WDC initiated for socio- economic upliftment of differently abled beneficiaries of Leh. He stressed that more efforts are needed to be made in this regard so that more number of physically disabled women could avail the benefit of the welfare schemes. Managing Director, WDC, Dr.Naheed Soz in her welcome address highlighted various activities and achievements of women's Development Corporation rendered for socio- economic upliftment of differently abled women in the State. She extended special thanks to the Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NHFDC for sponsoring workshop. She said"that WDC started NHFDC sche mes in 2004 with four beneficiaries and now till date have disbursed Rs. 1.77 crores amongst 175 differently abled beneficiaries and will be disbursing loans of Rs. 1 crore amongst 60 beneficiaries during current fiscal. for disabled destitute persons. The workshop was also attended by the Officers/Officials of Social Welfare, Employment, Rural Development, SC/ST/OBC Development Corporation and other Departments.
Various reputed NGOs such as REWA and PAGIR also participated in the workshop. During the workshop various schemes and other initiatives taken by the WDC for the betterment of differently abled women beneficiaries were also discussed in detail by the faculty and experts related to the issue.
