Time bound Action Plan being formulated to recreate Dastgeer Sahib shrine: Rather

ANANTNAG, June 28 : Reiterating that the government fully shares the grief and mourning of the people over the unbearable loss caused due to gutting of revered shrine of Peer Dastgeer, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today said a time bound Action Plan is being prepared to recreate the shrine according to its original design and architecture. The Plan will be finalized in consultation with the all stake holders and the Sajada Nisheen of the shrine. "Luckily the digital videography of the entire shrine complex and its interiors, conducted by the Tourism Department a couple of years ago, is with us which will facilitate to recreate the shrine of Peer Dastgeer Sahib (RA) according to its original design,", Rather said while addressing a public gathering after laying foundation stone of Rs. 30 lakhs Treasury Building at Shangus in district Anantnag today. The shrine complex will be a marvel of Islamic architecture, he added. He said an Action Plan is also being formulated to ensure safety and preservation of other shrines and historical buildings in the state. He said the decision in this regard was taken in a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah yesterday. Rather while calling for restrain and calm at this hour of grief and tragedy, expressed satisfaction that by the grace of God all the sacred Tabarkat in the shrine are safe and were displayed before the public and media by the Sajada Nisheen of the Shrine yesterday.
