As per the government data there are 3,400 health institutions in the state are quite insufficient for increased number of patients. It is not only the shortage of infrastructure but most of the hospitals are without sufficient number of nurses and para-medical staff. As per the Medical Council of India (MCI) norms, there should be one nurse per seven beds, but in most of the hospitals one nurse has to attend the entire ward, which has adversely affected the patient care.
