After 63 years Awans came to Jammu from PoK to meet their Hindu family friend | | | early times report JAMMU, June 28: The old relations die hard and same has become true about the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the people of its area which has been under forcible occupation of Pakistan and known as PoK. The people of two parts of J&K who were separated by the Pak invasion in 1947 with the drawing of Line of Control (LoC) barring them to meet each other for nearly 58 years had the moments of joy in 2005 when the bus service was started between the two parts of Kashmir from Uri to Muzaffarabad and Poonch and Rawlakote. This was a moment of merry making for the millions of separated people of two parts of J&K as they remained away from their relatives, friends and colleagues for six long decades. The opening of two routes one in Kashmir Valley and another in Jammu provided the opportunity to these people to see each other and meet their separated friends and relatives who were still alive. A Hindu family from Jammu who had migrated from Hatli Dupat in Muzaffarabad (PoK) in 1947 also got the chance to visit PoK after the opening of trade routes in 2005. Subash Tandon and his brother Basti Ram of Bakshi Nagar who had migrated during the Pak invasion also got the chance to visit PoK in 2005 to meet their family friends and relatives. However their dream dashed to ground after the unfortunate quake hit the PoK during their visit and both the brothers became its victims. While Basti Ram died after getting buried in debris his brother Subash Tandon was seriously injured. Later the dead body was brought to Bakshi Nagar for last rites and the two brothers could not meet their friends and other well wishers in Muzzfarabad. The family which had inmate relations with some Muslim families of the area could not meet them due to sudden tragedy as they had to cut short the visit and could not stay in PoK for more than two days. But the relations with the Muslim families were so deep that Mohammed Yousf Awan and Mohammed Hussian Awan two cousins visited specially from PoK after seeking permit to meet the Tandon family here. The two cousins who stayed with their relatives in Uri for few days after reaching there on June 11 visited the Tandon family couple of days back. For the Awans it was a dream come true as they met their friend after 63 long years. Tandon who was 18 years of age when they migrated to India to save themselves from Pak invaders said that their two cousins who were of five and seven years of age could not migrate and later converted to Islam. Awans and Tandon family though rejoiced the reunion after 63 long years favoured that permit system be made more easy as more and more people could be able to visit hassle free. They said the people for long 60 years craved to meet their relatives and friends and many died in the hope of that. The governments of India and Pakistan should end hostilities and work for peace and promotion of trade between the two countries, said Yousf Awan. He said there it is a cumbersome process to seek permission for visit and the same be granted by concerned DCs and SPs on the basis of I Cards.
