Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jun 29: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today reiterated that that return and rehabilitation issue of internally displaced Kashmiri Pandit (KP) community is a sensitive and complicated issue which needs to be dealt seriously by the government as well as by the community organizations. As per statement issued from New Delhi, Kundan Kashmiri (N) President Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) addressing his party activists and supporters at New Delhi on yesterday said this and added that rehabilitation package given by the Prime Minister of India should necessarily be de-linked from the return of the KP's to their previous locations in the valley. "The said return should be entirely as per the wishes, terms and condition of the displaced K.P's, not on the dictates and directions of the government, it's agencies and agents, he added.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri further stated that benefits of PM Package to be given to the displaced KP's at present locations for their temporary rehabilitation till they are rehabilitated in the valley. He also said that return formula set by the government will not work out as it has no consent of the general KP's masses and only a few government selected apex committee members of the community have given their nod to this return at their own without seeking the consent or feedback from the KP masses. However, Kundan Kashmiri hailed the recommendation for enhancement of relief from Rs. 5,000/- to Rs. 10,000/- per family and other authorities at New Delhi for its early approval at the centre. He also said that State Government has no right to amend or change status of the package given the by centre to the Kashmiri Pandits. He however appealed the community people not to get jubilant over these recommendations and think coolly what is better for the future settlement of their children in the valley.
