Age relaxation announcement brings no cheer to KP aspirants

Jammu, June 29: The NC led coalition government today came out with one more sop in favour of Kashmiri migrants claiming concessions to its youth by granting age relaxation of three years in the government jobs under PM's package pending for many years. However, instead of bringing any jubilation and accolades the announcement made by two ministers in the winter secretariat today has only added to confusion which prevails with the employment package being implemented by the state government in piece meals. The age relaxation concession is being largely seen as 'useless' , at least not for those who have completed their education years back and have been waiting to be adjusted against the pending vacant posts under the list.
The present coalition which deliberately slept over the matters pertaining to employment package for Kashmiri migrants announced years back by the Centre has lately been pursuing the matters somewhat in haste as the pressure on this front has mounted not only from within the aspiring youth of migrant community but also a dose of reprimand from the Centre for unwarranted delay. The Apex Committee, which is supposedly a high level panel representing a cross section of community besides leaders of the community from various political parties has pushed the matter unanimously in recent meetings as a result of which the government has adopted somewhat pro active approach in the issue.
However, today's announcement has come as disappointing for many instead of bringing cheers and delight on the faces of the aspirants. They have their valid arguments to substantiate fears and apprehensions of this sop as no more beneficial for the community in general and aspirants in particular. " This is an eye wash…age relaxation of three years will not serve any purpose for those in waiting for years for government after migration because even if they become eligible in respect of age for the jobs they cannot compete in terms of merit…", said RK Bhat, president Youth wing of AIKS, a leader who has been consistently pursuing the issue of employment for KP youth under PM's package. "This may bring some relief and benefit to freshers as they have the capacity to compete merit criteria", he further said. The AIKS leader, however, asserted that in order clear the air of apprehensions and confusion with the employment package, the government must give priority to previous list and should take 1500 candidates from the previous pending merit list first which is already lying with the recruitment agencies.
While other KP leaders too are looking at the fresh announcement in a skeptical manner contending that concerned ministry needs to explain clearly how it would benefit the candidates on practical grounds , the age relaxation announcement for now is being largely seen as ambiguous and a tactics of the government to keep the matters hanging in air with regard to employment package.
