DDC chairs meeting for devolution of powers to Panchayats

RAMBAN, June 30: A meeting on devolution of powers to the Panchayat Raj Institutions in 14 departments in Distt. Ramban was held under the Chairmanship of Shabir Ahmad Bhat, District Dev. Commissioner, Raman. The meeting was attended by ADDC, Ramban, ADC, Ramban, ACR, Ramban, CPO Ramban, ACD, Ramban, all District Officers and Sarpanches of 124 Panchayats of Distt. Ramban. In the meeting the department wise subjects and areas of devolution of powers to 14 deptts. to the panchayats was discussed threadbare.
The sarpanches of all 124 Panchayats put forth their opinions, view points, suggestions with regard to the devolution of powers to the Panchayat Raj Institutions and were also discussed by the DDC with the distt. officers of their respective departments. The Sarpanches were also appraised by the distt officers of the 14 departments about the steps taken towards devolution of the powers and ensuring the participation of Panchayats in making plans, programmes and schemes at the Panchayat level. Besides the District Dev. Commissioner, Ramban exhorted upon the Distt. Officers of all 14 deptts. to consult and ensure participation/consultation of Panchayat bodies in making plans and schemes at the panchayat level and further impressed upon the Sarpanches that they should closely monitor the implementation of and execution of different schemes and programmes and in case of any deficiency is noticed should immediately bring into the notice of distt. officer concerned and also to Distt. Dev. Commissioner Ramban.
The DDC assured the Sarpanches that the Distt. Administration is alive to the problems of people of this remote distt. and keen to redress the genuine grievances of the people of the distt. and shall hold quarterly meeting with the sarpanches in the distt. to review the implementation of developmental schemes/ programmes and also seek feedbacks about the delivery of all essential services in the district.
DDC further informed to the Sarpanches that after creation of the Distt. Ramban a massive developmental schemes, programmes have been launched in the distt. which make the effective monitoring mendatory on the part of Distt. Administration and Panchayati Raj Institutions so that the benefits of the development are percolated down among the people at the gross root level.
