Rehari residents hold protest, seek revival of transport facility | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 30: Hundreds of residents from Rehari Colony, Sarwal, New Plot, New Rehari and Dogra Hall assembled at Rehari Chungi and held massive sit-in dharna against the decision of government to permanently close the road connecting exchange eoad with the population on other side of the national highway. BJP MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma also reached the venue to boost and extend support to the agitating people on the genuine issue. Speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that this was the decades old route which connected the road leading from main city on exchange side with the densely populated areas of Jammu West constituency like Rehari Colony, Sarwal Colony and New Plot.Everyday thousands of vehicles pass through this passage and no problem has till date occurred. He further said the people will now face problems due to the closure of this route as they will have to travel more to reach their areas. People of Jammu like any other place are already suffering from excessive hike in petrol prices and with proposed new arrangement people will have to travel extra miles which will squeeze their pockets more leaving virtually nothing for the family. He said that instead of blocking this path, the government should start work on the construction of already approved fly over from Rehari Chungi towards Bus Stand to ease the public in general and commuters in particular. Prominent among those who sat on dharna were Praduman Singh, Sanjay Khanna, Dinesh Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Balwan Singh, N.D. Rajwal, Rajinder Sharma, Anil Gupta, Vimal Kumar, Gaurab Magotra, Munish Sharma (Raja), Ravi Sharma, Om Gupta, Arjun Sharma, Narinder Kumar, Daleep Kumar, Sajveev Kumar and others. |
