HC directed state to consider contractual lecturers case | | | JAMMU, June 30 (JNF): High Court today issued notice to the state government in a case of contractual lecturers seeking benefit of Sixth Pay Commission. In a petition filed by Rimpi Gupta and seven others who are working as contractual lecturers in different Government colleges and their appointments governed by the J&K Contractual Appointment Rules Vide SRO 255 of 2003 dated August 5, 2003. Every petitioner is continuing in job as lecturer/ teaching assistant since their appointment except Shalini Slathia who got a break in session commencing 2010. It is further submitted that the petitioners being paid Rs 12000 as lecturer and 8000/- as teaching assistant per month whereas only Mamta Choudhary is getting Rs 8000 as she has been appointed as teaching assistant. In the petition it has been submitted that later on their nomenclature was changed and made as Academic Arrangement. However, remains the same and nature of work is same. As the petitioners have been appointed under sub rule 8 of the J&K Contractual Appointment Rules 2003, so they entitled for the revision of their minimum pay scale Rs 21600 Per Month for Lecturer and 15600 per month for teaching assistant in terms of Sixth Pay Commission and seeking direction to the state for issuance order for enhancement of their pay. Justice Virender Singh of J&K High Court Jammu Wing after hearing Adv Amit Gupta for the petitioners, issued notice to respondents and in the meantime directed respondents to accord consideration to the petitioners' case and to make benefits of Govt order No 1661-GAD of 2009 dated November 26, 2009 in accordance with law. |
