We will not tolerate harassment of J&K students: NC | Omar takes notice of Haryana incident | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 30: The National Conference today took a very serious note of the students being harassed and beaten by some hooligans in Haryana's Swami Devi Dayal Institute of Engineering Technology, (SDDIET), Barwala and immediately sought the intervention of the Haryana government. National Conference Spokesman Tanvir Sadiq personally spoke to the students on the direction of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and assured the students that the government will do everything to ensure their safety. "Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took a very strong notice and directed DGP. K. Rajendra to immediately talk to his counterpart and ensure that they are not harassed by anyone" said Tanvir "Any state subject or any student visiting any part of the country should stay assured that the Omar Abdullah led government is committed for their protection and safety, we will not tolerate any harassment or intimidation by anyone to our people" said Tanvir Sadiq. "The DGP has already spoken to his counterpart in Haryana and has been assured that the higher officials of Haryana police will personally visit the college and make sure our boys are safe and secure" he added. "I spoke to the students personally and conveyed them the feelings of the party's working president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, I told them that he has taken a strong notice and directed everyone involved to ensure that the students are comforted and safe" said Tanvir "I am in regular contact with them and the Students are safe and relived with the immediate action of the government, as the police and the university authorities are taking care of them" Tanvir added. Appealing to all the Chief Minister of different states to ensure that our students are safe, Tanvir said "If we can host millions of people in Kashmir, it becomes an inherent obligation of the Leaders, Politicians and people of other states to ensure that our students are safe, such incidents will only alienate the people of the state from the rest of the country and can have far reaching consequences, We shall not tolerate such incidents in future." "It's time to win trust of the people of Kashmir and accept them with open arms, such incidents leave a bad impression and creates fear Psychosis in the minds of the parents whose children study outside the state" Tanvir concluded. |
