Consumer Association applauds quick complaint redressal | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 1: Fortnightly meeting of the Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) was held today wherein complaints about the difficulties faced by the consumers were discussed threadbare. Association members appreciated that concerned attended promptly on the complaints forwarded by the Association and replaced the defected material without any hindrance. The association appealed to the public to come forward with the genuine complaints, if any, and do not feel shy in lodging it since the act has a foolproof system and protect the consumer as far as possible. General complaint was about the increase of water tax from Rs. 360 to Rs. 800 by the Public Health department abruptly in all the areas without any consideration whether the supply is only one hour a day , twice a day or getting supply after three or four days like that in Sainik colony . Association demanded a justification for this unilateral increase which is unexplainable as expressed by the officers/ officials of the department. Similar sentiments were expressed by the members about the irregular ration supply. All the items i.e. Sugar, Atta and rice are not available with ration dealer at any point of time. The consumers have to run to the dealer many a times whereas the system is stated to be a little better in Kashmir province where supply is through government depots. The association decided to approach the concerned minister on his next visit to this part of province. |
