MLA discuss water crises with PHE officials

Kishtwar July 1 : MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo chaired a meeting of PHE officials Kishtwar which was also attended by the members of Kishtwar Development forum (KDF) who belongs to various social and political organizations. During the course of the meeting several issues including the water crises in Kishtwar, Mandal and its adjoining areas was discussed threadbare. The stress was laid on maintenance/checking of water leakage in old PHE pipes particularly the pipes passes through lanes and roads of Kishtwar town. MLA also inquired from the PHE officials about the progress on follow up action of newly sanctioned Rs. 46 Crore Naigard water supply scheme presently under execution. MLA informed the meeting that coalition government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has accorded sanction to another Rs 40 Cr. Naigard Irrigation water supply scheme which will exclusively use for irrigation purposes in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas. He also urged the people to make judicious use of water and electricity. Kichloo directed Executive Engineer PHE Division Kishtwar to provide trained staff for execution of work on HRT water supply scheme for which Rs. 2 crore has already been released by the government. He also directed PHE officials for early completion of Pari Bagh-Palmar water supply scheme so that more than 20000 inhabitants of Palmar area of Kishtwar District will get regular water supply. Later MLA Kishtwar personal visited the Plamar area and held discuss with the local people to clear some bottle necks creating hurdles in execution of Pari Bagh water supply scheme.
Among the prominent who attended the meeting includes Dr. Bashir Ahmed Mintoo, Duni Chand Sharma, Som Nath Sharma, Ghulam Qadir Malik, Imtiyaz Ahmed Zarger, Shabir ahmed Kamal, Mohammad Abbas Munshi, Rajinder Sen, Saroop Parihar, Vinod Bhandari, Manoj Parihar, Baldev Raj, Manoj Kumar and others.
