People have many questions, they need courageous men to answer

Srinagar, July1; Not denying the fact that for last couple of weeks or so strange incidents are taking place in Kashmir valley which, in no way can be overlooked rather underestimated because a neglected spark can put in flames the entire society. Of course, separatist as well as mainstream political spectrum has smelled something wrong in alleged desecration of holy Quran and in Shia populated area in Budgam district the other day and senior Shia cleric and PDP leader Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari too has described the incident as a conspiracy aimed to create sectarian divide in Kashmir which was experiencing a record tourist influx amid uneasy calm after many years.
On the other hand Sunni clergy has openly described the unfortunate incident of gutting of Peer Dastgeer Sahib Shrine in Srinagar city as conspiracy and has demanded an impartial probe into the incident.
In this case too it was alleged that the act was carried out to stir up sectarian passions in Kashmir by vested interests.
However, people in Kashmir, this time around, maintained cool as such foiled the nefarious designs of the conspirators whosoever. But more important than that is to identify the conspirators, because, every political and religious leader including the former BJP president Rajnath Singh have constantly maintained that twin incidents of Peer Dastgeer Sahib Shrine blaze and the desecration of holy Quran at Gund Hasibhat in Budgam were acts of conspiracy to disturb the social fabric in valley.
Even both factions of Hurriyat Conference have rejected the enquiry ordered by the government to probe the incident of gutting of Dastgeer Sahib shrine saying that government enquiries have lost credibility and demanded probe by impartial agencies.
While the entire Kashmir was mourning the loss of the cherished shrine, the divisive forces were busy spreading the rumors aimed at raking up sectarian differences. This is posing, as the phrase goes, clear and present danger. Ignoring the threat can prove to be dangerous. It seems the troublemakers are working aggressively to put this abode on fire. People with sick mentality are always ready to cash in on the tragedy.
People have of course, foiled the nefarious designs of the conspirators but the perpetrators of this dastard acts need to be identified. At the same time one has to be reasonable rather realistic while coming eventualities. Every incident cannot and certainly should not be seen from this prism alone but perceptional precipitation essentially needs to be overhauled in many cases. Take for example the incident of manhandling of separatist leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Khan by angry mob at Khanyar few days back. The duo quickly termed the incident as conspiracy and handiwork of enemies of freedom movement and attack on people associated with the movement. They even went on saying that the attack was preplanned and that they have identified the people who carried murderous attack on them.
"It was a pre-planned attack. We know them. We have identified them. They are wearing the robes of Azadi but are involved in anti- movement activities" Shabir Shah told newsmen that day. What was however, interesting to hear from Shah was, "people from all over Kashmir were calling us and wanted to avenge the attack but we pacified them, as we are mourning the gutting of 200-year old shrine. It is a black day for all of us. We requested them to remain calm." This incident particularly has raised many questions demanding answer from political elite. There are two sets of questions before us. The first set: does it mean that aftershocks are always manipulated as Shah wittingly or unwittingly confessed. Sometimes Shah is the architect and sometimes the target. Does this mean that the lay man was and continues to be fodder of a aftershock- conflict of the historical conflict. Does it mean that hundreds of thousands of people consumed so far in the conflict were victims of architectural conspiracy hatched by the [political elite. And the second set of questions is : does political incompetence deserve an outburst like the one witnessed in Khanyar, does it mean the peoples hands have started reaching the throats, does it mean that people don't want to be mislead by now in any case, does it mean that the change, not to the liking of many, in its wake will force an accountability in more than many cases. Does it mean that Kashmir has started demonstrating a keener sense of awareness of the under currents of the change.
There are questions and questions and questions and we need men and men with courage to come up with answers.
