Dust not yet settled on Interlocutors' report…! | BJP's two pronged strategy to keep issue 'alive', take on Congress | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1: Even as the dust appears to be settling down on the uproar that erupted soon after J&K Interlocutors' report became public last month, for BJP the issue is still politically hot which the party is trying to keep alive to its gain . From protests on roads to now exploiting the issue at the intellectual level by reaching out to states outside J&K is what the leadership is focusing on at present. The strategy is to hit out at its rival Congress by painting a negative picture about its leadership vis-à-vis Kashmir policy. The state leadership has in fact embarked upon a well scheduled series of such programmes which have been devised in consultation with and on directions of the Central leadership that aims at reaching out to common masses outside J&K and unraveling the recommendations of the Interlocutors report , particularly those which doesn't ,match the ideology of party with respect to J&K's complete integration with rest of country. "The idea is to make these recommendations known to people outside the state through seminars and other forums which have been made by the Interlocutors appointed by Congress led UPA….", said a senior leader of the party. Besides making detailed analysis of each and every recommendation which the party feels dilutes J&K's complete integration with India, the BJP leaders attending these seminar would also make some political bashing of Congress, its main rival by taking it on, asking hard questions as to why the Congress is now silent and doesn't take any follow up action on the recommendations made by the Interlocutors. Pertinently, the report has since been submitted to the Union Home ministry. While the central leadership in its national executive in Mumbai last month has already rejected the report, the party through this strategy intends to make people aware and ask these states as well to reject the report. BJP has now chosen such leaders to participate in the seminars and other programmes outside J&K who have knowledge about the subject and can throw light on the aspects of the report which do not augure well from the point of view of J&K being integral part of India. The party has sent Dr Jitender Singh, its chief spokesperson to three states where he would speak about the subject in English- Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradeh, one more leader Chander Mohan Sharma would be participating in seminars in Hindi speaking states, to begin with from Gujarat.
