| Tussle widens: Charak hits back on Harshdev | | | Jammu, Feb 01 While admitting that he has spent departmental money on issuing Eid and Diwali greetings through print media, Minister for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh today hit back at Harshdev who had accused him of using state exchequer for his personal publicity. Charak while replying to a question by Yashpal Kundal during question hour in Legislative Assembly, here today, agreed that he had issued greetings through News Papers on various festivals saying that there is nothing wrong in it. He however, said that he never put up big hoardings at road crossings like other ministers including Harshdev himself. It is pertinent to mention here that Harshdev had accused Charak of using public money for personal publicity. Charak accused Harshdev of discussing his person saying that Meri moonchoon tak ko Harshdev ji nein yahien discuss Keya (Harshdev ji discussed even my moustaches in the House) However, reacting to Charak’s allegations, Harshdev remained stick to his point and said that issuing personal greetings on state exchequer is liable to action. He said a Minister has every right to publicize achievements of his department, but he can not use public money for his personal publicity. Earlier, in reply to main question, Charak said that Rs 7.61 Lakh has been paid on account of advertisements other then tenders for Kashmir Division during last year. He however said that bills for advertisements issued for Jammu Division have not been ‘preferred by the News Papers’ as yet.
