Kishtwar July 2: The longest surviving Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Muhammad Amin Bhat alias Jahangir Saroori has reportedly crossed over to Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Jahangir was wanted in last year's blasts in Delhi High Court which left several people dead and scores wounded. Jahangir heads the Hizbul Mujahedeen in Kishtwar District and the three Kishtwari based militants Shakir Hussain alias Chota Hafiz, Junaid Akram Malik alias Juni and Amir Kamal alias Akram wanted by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) are directly working under his command and control.

Though the name of the Jahangir Saroori did not feature directly in Delhi blasts but being head of the organization in the district, the security agencies did not rule out his involvement.

According to the sources, Saroori conversation was intercepted by the security forces from across the border while he was talking with Kashmir based Hizb commander a few days ago. The sources said that due to pressure exerted by the security forces in Marwah and Dachhan area of Kishtwar District, 48 year old Jahangir Saroori, father of four children (Three daughters and a son) was advised by the mentors across the border including by United Jehad Council chief Syed Salahudin to migrate from the area. Jahangir followed the directions and successfully crossed over to other side of the border last week. However, his family including his children and wife are still in Kishtwar.

Sources said that the family members are well informed about his crossing over to the PoK. The sources said that decision regarding shifting of Jahangir Saroori to PoK was taken by the top Hizb leadership taking into account his age.

Saroori is considered a brilliant sharp shooter among the militant ranks. He joined the militancy in 1990, but was declared active in police records in the year 1992. During his 22 year services in the field of terror, Jahangir remains involved in many subversive activities.

"We are getting confirmed reports that Jahangir Saroori successfully managed to cross into PoK, but we are not sure about the route used by the Hizb commander to reach PoK--- We are verifying as to how he (Jahangir Saroori) managed to crossover to other side of the border."

The sources said that the decision to call Jahangir Saroori back to PoK comes in wake of arrival of fresh group of HM in Marwah region of Kishtwar District led by Dr. Jaffar. The sources said that one of the reasons behind successful crossing of Jahangir Saroori to PoK is that the security forces did not have any fresh photograph of Jahangir Saroori available with them. "The picture we have that of Jahangir Saroori is 10-12 year old--- this is why he managed to dodge the security agencies taking benefit of age factor as well", the sources said.

Meanwhile, the senior police officials in Jammu and Kashmir neither denied nor accepted the reports pertaining to Jahangir Saroori slip to PoK. "It is premature to confirm the report--- We are in the process of verifying the same" , a senior official said.

As per records available with the "Early Times", Jahangir Saroori was involved in several killings and attempt to murder case. The details of some of the FIRs registered against Jahangir Saroori in various police stations of Kishtwar district is as follows.
