| Police solves 'blind murder case' within 15 days | | Illicit relations behind murder | | early times report
Udhampur/Jammu, July 2: Continuing its drive against the hard core criminals for the last two months, Udhampur Police today worked out a sensational blind murder of a person in Basantgarh with the arrest of one Bashir Ahmad who has also confessed to the commission of crime.
According to police the body of one Shabir Ahmad S/o Mohd Hussain R/o Punnara Basantgarh was found lying in Sang forest, Basantgarh in suspicious circumstances on 17.06.2012 and his murder mystery was resolved within two weeks of the commission of crime.
"Based on an information regarding suspicious death of an above named deceased person on 17.06.2012, inquest proceedings under section 174/Cr.PC were initiated in Police Station Basantgarh which during the course of investigation and on receipt of the postmortem report converted to a murder case registered vide FIR No 18 u/s 302/RPC, police said, further adding Police party of Basantgarh Police station was deputed to apprehend the criminals and subsequently, after hectic efforts and utilization of human and technical intelligence, police party managed to arrest the accused namely Bashir Ahmad s/o Sayed Mohd R/o Sang Basantgarh who during sustained interrogation confessed to the crime committed by him.
As per police the illicit relation is found as the root cause as the deceased used to visit the house of accused continuously and developed illicit relation with his sister namely Nagina Begam for the last 2-3 months which was unacceptable to the accused and accordingly he planned to kill him.
"On 17th of June, when he found the deceased in his house, he eliminated him by strangulating him with a rope and tried to dodge the police by placing his dead body under a deodar tree thereby pretending that the deceased has committed suicide, police said further adding that the accused was arrested and is being produced before the Magistrate for obtaining his Police remand for detailed interrogation/further investigation.
Meanwhile, accused namely Bashir Ahmad s/o Said Mohd R/o Sang Basantgarh has confessed to the commission of crime.
