| Working group on centre state relations, NC to continue BOYCOTT | | | JAMMU, FEBRUARY 2 National Conference leadership has declined to climb down from its stated position on participation in the working group meeting on the Centre-State relations. According to reports, the party leadership has decided to stay away from the second meeting of the group scheduled to be held in Jammu on Saturday. The party had earlier boycotted all the meetings of different working groups in protest against alleged rise in number of human rights violation in the state. According to reports, effort were made by the Central government and state Chief Minister to pacify the NC leadership to join the all important working group but it seems their efforts have gone waste as NC leadership has decided to stuck to their stand of not attending the meeting as they feel the state government has failed to secure lives of state populace In the last couple of days the party showed its teeth to the ruling coalition and stalled the proceedings of the state assembly in the lower house and staged protests in the upper house. It’s a question of our cedibiltiy in the eyes of our supporters. We have taken a stand on the issue and we will not surrender under any pressure from the state government to participate in the working group meeting, a senior NC leader said. Earlier on Thursday when leader of the opposition AR Rather was asked by few media persons whether he would join the working group meeting during an informal chat, he made it clear the party had not taken a final decision clarifying that under the circumstances it looked a distinct possibility.
