Geelani reflects radicalisation of Kashmir | | | early times report Jammu, July 3: Hardline separatist leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani's opposition to return of Kashmiri Pandits to their motherland exposes how the radical streak of thought-propounded and advocated by him- has left no room for survival -leave alone existence- of another school of thought. In a smartly added rider, the hardcore separatist said though the KPs are welcome to get settled down in their homes, which they had left, knowing that it's not a possible preposition. The real face of hardline and separatist though was reflected when he termed separate accommodation of KPs as ploy of Indian government to make settlement on the line of Jews settlement in Israel. KPs have been part of the cultural legacy of the Kashmir, before radicalization of the valley. The game plan to change demographic profile of Kashmir was achieved with the selective killings of KPs in the early days of terrorism leading to their mass exodus. But now that terrorism has become most 'hated' word world wide, and with growing sense of normalcy, there is desire among KPs to get settled down in Kashmir. This is some thing much to the disliking of Geelani and people of his ilk. Geelani knows well that even single terrorist attack on KPs would turn the table at him across the world. It would be push the plate of his 'Kashmir cause' to a different level, and would make him persona-non-grata. It's a risk he can't take. To put a spanner on any move which goes against the current of radicalization, he had issued this statement. The statement comes week after the fire at Dastgeer Sahib and shows that there is pattern to it. Sufi shrines, which run parallel and contrary to radical school of thought, are the prime targets to the hardliners. In less than one year, three sufi shrines have been targeted. The same phenomena is being witnessed in Pakistan administered North-west Frontier province, where both sufi shrines and center of culture are being targeted and singers murdered. It's not a surprise that there has been no condemnation of his statement from rival Hurriyat camp, which pretends to be moderate. Even 'civil society' in Kashmir has been silent on this issue. The statement couldn't have come at a much better time. Centre, especially Home Minister, is talking about Interlocutors report and amendments in AFSPA. Geelani's statement is a stark reminder how even a single move in this affect could harm interests of pluralistic India in 'radicalized' Kashmir
