Siraji cultural body criticise culture academy Doda | | | Early Times Report
Doda, July 3: In a meeting of Siraji poets and artists held under the chairmanship of Bashir Ahmed Basher, president Siraj youth club, the partisan attitude of cultural academy sub-office Doda was severely criticized by the participants. The cultural academy Doda has given a step-motherly treatment to a Siraji dialect which is spoken by more than one lakh people of District Doda. There are about twenty Siraji folk poets and scores of folk singers of this important dialect, but the cultural Academy has ignored this dialect for the last two years. Speaking in the meeting Bashir Ahmed Bashir said that the cultural officer Doda has no idea that Doda sub-office is for the promotion of local cultural and languages. The cultural officers organize programmes for a handful of his acquaintances and friends. Not a single Siraji for the past two years, which speaks volumes about the biased attitude of the cultural officer. The sub-office books folk artists from Kashmir but ignores local folk artists. It is sheer abuse of the official position by the cultural officer. The participants of the meeting appealed the Chief Minister and the secretary cultural academy to take action against the prejudicial officials of sub-office Doda. The meeting also decried the Bhaderwah development Authority for non-payment remuneration to a troupe of five Siraji artists who has participated in the Bhaderwah Festival in 2011.Even after a lapse of one year the poor artists of Siraji dialect led by Bashir Ahmed Bashir the payment of remuneration has been denied to them. To sprinkle salt over their wounds the BDA did not look genuine Siraji artistes this time, instead folk dancers from the village of the CEO BDA were booked to give performance in this year's festival at Bhaderwah. |
