PDP protests against civic woes in Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 4 : The opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday staged protests against corruption, unemployment and acute shortage of power and water supply here. PDP members took to the streets, and raised slogans against the ruling National Conference. Talking to reporters here, PDP leader Ved Mahajan said the state government had failed to address the basic needs of the people. It also accused the Centre government of collaborating in corrupt practices in the state. "There is no electricity in the state. There is power cut for more than 20 hours. There is lack of water supply. The Centre and the ruling National Conference are jointly involved in various corrupt activities," Mahajan said.Protesters criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for failing to address the people's woes.PDP spokesperson Rangil Singh accused Abdullah for siphoning off public funds. The PDP said it would seek the support of rural folk to intensify their agitation against the state government. |
