Rain brings relief to Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu , July 4 : The people of Jammu heaved a sigh of relief Wednesday as brief showers brought the temperature down in the winter capital that has been reeling under long power cuts. The drizzle promised the onset of the monsoon in the 'city of temples' on July 6. After a week of scorching heat, the sky line over Jammu was covered with thick grey clouds and in the evening rains lashed Jammu and adjoining areas. Katra, base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi also witnessed fresh spell of rain bringing down rising mercury. According to Met department, "Duststorms and mild thundershowers are precursors to the advancing monsoon, and pre-monsoon showers on Wednesday are a good indication of timely spell of Monsoon in the city of temples. After advancing across North Indian states the monsoon is also likely to cover the entire state in a couple of days, said weatherman closely monitoring the movement of monsoon. |
