Mangat asks people to follow the righteous path as laid down by spiritual saints

JAMMU, February 02
Congratulating the public on 630th Birth Anniversary of Shri Ravi Das Ji Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma today said that Guru Ji attained spirituality and divine powers by his Karma and spread a message of equality and brotherhood among various sections of the society.
Minister was addressing a huge religious congregation who had assembled to celebrate 630th Birth Anniversary here today.
Mr. Sharma said that Guru Ji has shown that caste does not debar any individual to attain devine power and spirituality and it is the only will power and Karma which make a perfect saint.
He said the J&K is the first State which has attained advancement in fighting untouchability and providing equal rights to all sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and colour. He said the education is the only key to remove backwardness and poverty and asked the public in general to give modern and scientific education to their children to get rid of social evils and face the future challenges of the modern era.
Responding to a charter of demands presented on this occasion, the Minister said that government is taking keen interest in removing the bottlenecks confronting SC and ST communities and has enacted Legislation instead of SRO to provide reservation to these communities as admissible under rule. He said a committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary has been constituted to look into and study reservation rules of other states and suggest best laws for implementation in the state. He also assured that proper roster will be maintained and efforts made to fill up backlog vacancies admissible under rule. Matters regarding handing over land adjoining to the Ravi Das Temple and representation in the State Cabinet will be taken up at the appropriate forum for favourable action, he said.
